Classic Steinbeck at his best and a film narrated by John Houston that matches or even exceeds the story being told. As a major fan of Steinbeck this is a classic in all respects and its lighthearted approach is one that most authors aren't able to deliver. As a film lover, the interpretation of the story is done beautifully while some extra characters that add to the story make for a wonderful experience. Without this classic story though, a film could never be made! Thanks John..you're one of the rare ones in a class all to yourself! ( )

Cannery Row, el arrabal conservero de Monterrey, es un poema, un hedor,un ruido chirriante, una cualidad de la luz, una tonalidad, un hábito, una nostalgia, un sueño. Es el lugar donde viven Mack y sus muchachos, golfos y vagabundos de buen corazón; y Doc, el científico individualista, alma auténtica del barrio; y Dora, bondadosa madame del burdel Bandera del Oso; y Lee Chong, el astuto tendero chino que siempre acaba proporcionando crédito para todas las francachelas. Y los pescadores y los perros callejeros y las prostitutas y los artistas y los soldados con sus novias. Sobre las cabañas y los bares de Cannery Row gravitan las fuerzas del bien y del mal, que arrastran a los personajes y les confieren la función de catalizadores de la gran urdimbre cósmica. Serán quizá esas poderosas influencias - en combinación con tres o cuatro garrafas de whisky - las que actúen para torcer los planes de Mack y sus amigos cuando estos intenten agasajar a Doc con la mejor fiesta de su vida.

Η τσατσά ( καλή κυρία ) , οι αλήτες ( κατά βάθος καλά παιδιά ), ο κινέζος έμπορος με ψήγματα καλοσύνης κι ο γιατρός με τις ιδιαιτερότητες του. Κλασικό , αλλά δε μου άρεσε πολύ . ( )
