A propos de ma bibliothèque

I'm trying to get the TBR section smaller than the I Just Bought This on Impulse section. I like things that are new, different, or oddball. My collection is both eclectic and Byzantine.

I usually avoid romances, dystopian novels, or thrillers, but am open to persuasion.
A propos de moi
Retired teacher; widow; mother of one son; compulsive reader; beach person

Special Joys

1. Mysteries

I prefer certain types of mysteries: Golden Age; locked room; Country House types with limited suspect list; detectives, whether amateur or professional, who are smart; humor
I don’t like a lot of gore

2. Biographies; memoirs; personal essays

3. Victorian novels and Victorian-era nonfiction

4. Natural History

Ratings:

A moderately enjoyable book gets three stars. Most of my books are chosen carefully (appearances to the contrary), so fewer of my ratings fall below three stars. I’ve finally realized that I can guiltlessly abandon books I don’t like.
