{My thoughts} – Emily and Navin are making a trip to Kanalis, in the hope and attempt to find a cure for their mother. Their mother was poisoned in the last book and now they are attempting to save her life. There is a lot that is going on in this book.

Both Emily and Navin end up getting separated in an attempt to keep Navin safe. However, once Navin gets to where he is headed, he learns that Emily isn’t safe and he decides to go on his own mission to save her. Many of those around him decide that it is in their best interest to go with him and help him succeed. They do save her, but it comes at a cost for the house in which they are residing.

Emily struggles through most of the book, she is fighting against the amulet. The amulet talks to her and tells her to let it take control and it can help her save herself and those she loves most. She doesn’t want to let that happen and the fight is draining her on so many different levels.

We learned in this book that their biggest enemy is the Elf King and we learned how he’d come about. We learned that one of her best allies is the son of a guard that the Elf King had killed. And we learned a whole lot of other history. We mostly learned that even though things aren’t going as one would like, that Emily and Navin are up to the fight and the challenge needed to protect those around them and those they care deeply about. I look forward to reading the next book in the series very soon.

{My thoughts} – Emily lost control of her stone’s powers in the last book. She ended up turning into a big bird made of fire. The book references her as being a pheonix. A lot transpires with her while she is lost in the memories, which is a huge learning situation for both her and those that she is friends with.

Navin and his friends go on a quest to help from a space station. Their goal is to try and save Alledia from destruction. They do what they can with the resources they have available to them.

Trellis and Emily eventually meet up again and when they do there is so much to be discussed. The question is, is she his enemy or his friend? The only way you will learn that is if you read the book. I promise it is well worth the read. The only thing that made me sad is that the book ended with a cliff hanger. I cannot wait for the next book to come out so that I can devour it!

{My thoughts} – Navin and his friends from school are sent on a mission to Lucien. It is their job to activate a communicator beacon. When they get there they learn that the town is completely destroyed. They run into some issues and soon find themselves in need of some help. Riva someone that spots them decides to save them. She shows them how to get underground to the city below. Down there they learn that she’s actually the mayor of the city.

Navin also is met by many of his old friends from the resistance and together they work their way through the current issue. They are forced with needing to evacuate the entire town to get them away from the shadow creatures that are swarming above ground and will lead to their untimely deaths.

In the meantime, Emily and her stonekeeper friends are on a mission to destroy Max. We learn that Max is actually dead and that the voice behind the stone is what has been keeping him alive. Since Max wasn’t able to complete the mission that the voice sent him on – it leads to Max dying and turning into a stone statue.

This was a great addition to the storyline. I enjoyed learning more about Max and his backstory. I am looking forward to reading more of this series in the near future.

{My thoughts} – Emily and Trellis are on a quest to find his stolen memories. They were set on this course by Max before he died. They are not sure if they are being sent into a trap or not, just that they are trying to gain information that was apparently stolen from Trellis.

While they are there they gain access to Trellis memory. However, it changes from his to Emily’s and things go very very wrong. The task they were on ends up in chaos and Trellis isn’t sure what he is suppose to do to correct the situation, despite begging Emily for help.

This book ended in such a way that I am certainly going to devour the next book in the series as soon as possible. I am curious to see what is going to become of Emily and her family. There is a lot of information within the pages of this book that make me question the motives of some of the other characters within the book.
