A charming little book with three interconnected stories that show how even the smallest act of kindness can have a larger impact than you may know.

Unfortunately if you’re looking for a book of ‘tales’ from the Labyrinth as the title suggests, this book isn’t it. This picture book contains three short stories, Sir Didymus’ Grand Day, Wisdom & Idioms, and Stone Cold.

Sir Didymus’ Grand Day is just a journal entry from Sir Didymus in which he meets up with other Labyrinth characters through the day. Nothing really happens. Wisdom & Idioms was my favorite of the stories, but it’s still too simple and not much of a “tale”. The ‘wise’ man and his bird-hat are just sitting around cracking jokes about Sir Didymus and Ambrosia chasing a Fiery’s head. Stone Cold is poor Ludo going to all the Labyrinth characters trying to get rid of his cold.

As with most Labyrinth books I’ve read, the art is beautiful and whimsical. If for anything you can get the book for the art.

The way the stories are told, if you haven’t watched the movie you probably won’t enjoy this book (other than the art). There just isn’t enough information for someone not familiar with The Labyrinth to understand these short stories. It wasn’t at all what I was hoping for, but still has some pretty pictures.
