Books read in January:
1. Great Ages of Man: Age of Enlightenment by Peter Gay
First complete reading. I prefer some of the other books in the series to this one, frankly; I tend to be put in mind of Great Ages of Man: Age of Exploration, which I favor over this one and which partly overlaps it in timeframe (although not in subject matter).

It doesn't help that Gay wrote a somewhat negative review of the next book on this list, which I like rather better.

2. Paris in the Terror: June 1793 - July 1794 by Stanley Loomis
First complete reading, although I had read some of the final section years ago (which is why I own it in the first place).

3. Catseye by Andre Norton, read by Eric Michael Summerer
First time through the audiobook, although I've read the book itself before. This is a good recording.

4. It's a Magical World written and drawn by Bill Watterson
I don't know when I last read this; I do like Calvin and Hobbes.

5. Murphy's Law and other reasons why things go wrong by Arthur Bloch
Re-read; I don't know when I last read this either. (Also known as going through some of the back bookshelves today...)

6. Archer's Goon by Diana Wynne Jones
First complete reading; I enjoyed this.

7. Homicidal Psycho Jungle Cat written and drawn by Bill Watterson
I don't know when I last read this, either...

8. Stephen W. Hawking's Life Works: The Cambridge Lectures written and read by Stephen W. Hawking
First complete reading.

9. Bloom County: Loose Tails written and drawn by Berke Breathed
Another item from the back shelves - don't know when I last read it...I have no recollection of Binkley being so hung up on celebrity lifestyles...

10. The Calvin and Hobbes Tenth Anniversary Book written and drawn by Bill Watterson
Annotated with author commentary.

11. Calvin and Hobbes written and drawn by Bill Watterson

12. Bloom County: Toons for Our Times written and drawn by Berke Breathed

13. Weirdos from Another Planet written and drawn by Bill Watterson

14. Something Under the Bed Is Drooling written and drawn by Bill Watterson

15. Beauty by Robin McKinley
Re-read, although I don't remember the last time I read this, so it's been on my to-read list for some years.

16. Murphy's Law Book Two: more reasons why things go wrong by Arthur Bloch

17. Attack of the Deranged Mutant Killer Monster Snow Goons written and drawn by Bill Watterson

18. A Time for Every Purpose Under Heaven (short story) by Barbara Hambly
First reading. This case takes place while Benjamin is out of town during The Shirt on His Back, when one of their neighbours on Rue Esplanade is murdered, and Rose is one of the first on the scene.

19. A Free Man of Color by Barbara Hambly
First reading, despite the fact that I've read several of the later books in the series. This is the first in the series.

20. Kingdoms of the Wall by Robert Silverberg
First complete reading.

21. Worlds' End by Neil Gaiman
I'm not sure if this is the first complete reading or not...

Books read in February
23. Beneath the Vaulted Hills by Sean Russell
First complete reading. This is volume 1 of River into Darkness. There is way, way too much cave exploration in this one....at least, too much cave exploration gone wrong. I don't mean that it's badly written, just disturbing.
24. The Kindly Ones by Neil Gaiman
First complete reading.
25. The Wake by Neil Gaiman
Re-read, although I don't remember the last time I read this, so it's been on my to-read list for some years.
26. Cut to the Quick by Kate Ross
First complete reading. The first Julian Kestrel mystery.
27. The Bull from the Sea by Mary Renault, read by Kris Dyer
First complete reading.
28. A Broken Vessel by Kate Ross
First complete reading; the second Julian Kestrel mystery.
29. The Compass of the Soul by Sean Russell
First complete reading; this completes River into Darkness.

Didn't finish any new roots in November or December (a couple of books I own, but nothing new about re-reading them, and some new reads that I didn't own...)
