A propos de ma bibliothèque
some notes on book ratings:

1/2* | didn't finish/couldn't bear
* | did not exactly enjoy reading this, but was not quite bad enough, and is perhaps in some way or domain too important, to warrant expulsion from library/complete hatred
*1/2 | so yeah, i read that, it was okay. just something to read
** | glad to have read it, pretty good, but likely will not return to it. likely would not recommend in most cases
**1/2 | good, worthwhile in some respect
*** | very good, but does not quite reach greatness
***1/2 | just on the cusp of greatness. it has its problems, but don't we all?
**** | better than great. this is a book i think about often and recommend willingly
****1/2 | nearly perfect
***** | has rewired my brain, i may well have not been the same since.

the recommendation line is basically set between 2 1/2 and 3 stars: above i will and below i will not, generally, suggest to others.
