This author gave me a book that I could get lost in. I enjoyed the storyline, the characters, and the mystery. I highly recommend this author.

I enjoyed this series and these wonderful characters. However, they fell short in this book. I cannot quite put my feeling on what it was but I just didn't connect to this part as much.

Captain Kathryn Chase was an army nurse, now an insurance fraud investigator. She's been in a holding pattern since she left the army and wants to explore BDSM as a submissive, and her good friend hooks her up with a trusted Dom.
Jake Russo, former Sergeant First Class has kept to himself since he almost died along with his team several years ago. When a friend asks him to introduce BDSM to Kathryn, he agrees for several reasons. One being he has followed Kathryn since she saved his life three years ago.
Their BDSM play quickly gets sidetracked when Kathryn's place is ransacked and the investigation takes the limelight. Their attention focuses on the investigation of who's behind over insuring soldiers that conveniently end up dead,
An interesting story, with likeable characters, a low simmer romance, with very light BDSM play, but the title doesn't truly fit the story. Given the title I was expecting the story to have a much bigger BDSM focus. I was expecting a teaching, training dynamic and graduating exploration but it read more like a couple with Dominant, submissive tendencies that did a few kinky things during sex.

Definitely a surprise with this book. There was something about the mystery and the connection that I wanted to know more. I loved the characters and I can't wait to see what happens next.
