Own a Kindle, Sony or other e-reading device? I'm amazed at how many folks are reading on their mobile phones these days too.

So have you? Or are eBooks just the work of the devil?

I've just bought the Sony. It's waiting for me to get home and turn it on.

Oh fun! Congratulations!
Let me know what you think of the "buying of the books" thing.
I have an older Sony and it can't quite keep up with the newer store.

What have you bought to read?

They aren't the "work of the devil", but they aren't the same experience as a codex.

I'm waiting for the Kindle to come way down in price, and then I'll use it when I travel.

I can't imagine trying to read on a mobile phone's tiny screen!

lilithcat I can't agree more about the experience a reader has when they're reading a printed book. That's one lesson that eBook device manufacturers and publishers are going to have to realize....

the idea that an eBook device can mimmick a book reading experience is a false one, so they need to quit trying to "copy the book" and develop eBooks as their own entities maximizing the unique experience and convience only an eBook can give.

Not saying they're better, just unique. Good points lilithcat!

I've had a Sony reader since April, purchased with tax refund money.

I have yet to buy an ebook, I download them free. Granted, there are no new books offered for free but I have rediscovered an entire new group of books and it has kept me busy. Recent ebooks are The Virginian, The Magnificent Ambersons, Riders of the Purple Sage, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

Luv it!

I have a Kindle I bought to work my wall and shelving space problem, let me read current ephemera and take on travel. I am finding that (after four months) my sense of the Kindle as a physical object is beginning to disappear when I read for fun, just the way a paperback will. I still would not use it for high intensity reading but am very glad to have it.

1hitwonder There's no better feeling than scoring a free read, in any format. Please share any that you find! Maybe we could start a thread for listing free reads. I seem to stumble across more and more publishers that will give away eBook versions for a week prior to a new title hitting store shelves.

But the practice seems to be limited mostly to the business, self-help and personal finance categories.

So do share whatever you find!
