Same goals in 2018
Read 100+ books
Half of them from TBR shelves.
Give more away than I bring home!

I like fiction - mystery/thrillers, fantasy, sci fi, historical fiction, and novels set in different cultures.
Also fond of YA fiction.
Planning to read some non-fiction too.

In 2017 I just made it to 100 by reading a few short and easy ones in Dec to catch up!
I get behind when I leave home to go stay with my little granddaughter for a few weeks at a time. She keeps me busy!

So I am already behind in 2018. I read 12 books in Jan but finished only 1 in Feb when I was in San Francisco for the month.

Read in Jan -

1. A night in the lonesome October by Zelazny. Zany and humorous fantasy with a wonderful dog narrator. :)
*2. The runaway dolls by Martin with fabulous illustration by Brian Selznick. Clever J doll fantasy, :)
*3. So far from the bamboo grove Watkins. YA historical novel about a Japanese family escaping from Korea in WWII. :)
4. Into the water Hawkins. Suspense by author of Girl on the train. :)
5. Everything, everything Yoon. YA romantic girl-in-a-bubble story. :)
*6. The unfinished angel Creech. Another fanciful winner for kids from a favorite author. :)
*7. Shadow spinner Fletcher. YA retelling of the Shahrazad tale. :)
8. Once and for all Dessen. Very funny wedding planner theme along with a tragic teen romance. :)
9. Torch against the night Tahir. 2nd in a fantasy series; while I quite liked the 1st one, this one had way too much grim evil and violence. :(
10. Light it up. Petrie. 3rd in the action/thriller series about the wandering Peter Ash. :)
*11. The tall stranger Stevenson. British romance from the 1950s. :)
*12, Country of strangers Richter. A companion story to the classic Light in the forest. Very sad story. :|

Most books get :) because I know what I will like and I screen pretty well.

*6 TBR books out of the house!
