The artwork on the cover is visually *similar to* Trina Schart Hyman. I think I remember pearls, a paint palette, etc. on the cover. Idk if she granted a wish or has a magic paintbrush? (not The Magic Paintbrush by Julia Donaldson, thank you.)aps h
Elements of the story I remember:
She is poor and considers herself/is considered somewhat plain-looking. She is poor and has no/little money. There may or may not have been an old man in the story. Perhaps her father/grandfather. She/they are hungry and need food. they have nothing to sale, however, she is VERY talented at painting. She sells her paintings for coins to buy food. Somehow she either is granted the ability to paint things which become reality or she is given a magic paintbrush. She can paint coins which become real coins, jewels, she can paint gowns, etc. She eventually meets a man whom she falls in love with, but she believes she is too plain and he will never notice/love her. She looks in the mirror and paints herself "more beautiful". She seeks him out with her new visage (blonde, beautiful rich gown). When she converses with him as she now appears she discovers that he is already in love with someone. Upon further inquiry, she discovers the someone was none other than her formerly appearing self!! (He loved her for who she was before; he thought she was beautiful just as she was.)
There is a happy ending of course. I have searched and googled all I can and no one knows this book. Can anyone here help recall/find this book?
Thank you in advance!!

I know most of those listed titles, and I would say those are titles that are NOT correct.
