Last month, Puerto Rican writer Eduardo Lalo received the 2013 (XVIII edición) Rómulo Gallegos prize for his novel "Simone". His was selected from among 200 works from 17 countries to win the $100,000 cash prize.

None of this is in English. In fact, I'm struggling to find anything on Eduardo Lalo in English (he's only on es.Wikipedia!) and there is only one of his works on LT (not "Simone") as far as I can see.

Another article (in Spanish only, again) from Venezuela's El Universal begins Who is Eduardo Lalo? This was the first question to arise after the verdict of the recent Rómulo Gallegos prize became known.

A short mention of this was made in a number of media outlets in English, but unfortunately nothing about Eduardo Lalo in detail let alone “Simone” – Every article states the same thing:
“Different historical, social, cultural and aesthetic expressions of the contemporary situation” are woven into the winning novel’s plot, the jury, which selected Lalo by unanimous vote, said in a statement.
“Simone” also is a work containing an ”extremely broad range of aesthetic and affective intuitions with a potential region-wide impact.”
