Hi!

The first book series I'm looking for is science fiction and is about some telepathic cat-like creatures at war. I didn't read the entire series and believe I must have read it in the 80's/90's. The cat-like species are telepathic as are some of their human allies. One of the major characters, a human female fell in love with and bonded/married one of the cat-like creatues. She became pregnant but had a difficult time relating to the baby after it was born. She was also attracted to another cat-like male who was second in command to her mate. The "cats" resembled humans in that they walked on two legs but had claws/paws instead of hands and also had tails. I believe at some point in the series, there were plans to travel in the past to change history in order to rid the universe of the enemy both were fighting. This isn't Anne McCaffrey's series about humans coming under subjection of an alien race. This series goes into detail about the nature of the telepaths as well as the society of the cat-like beings. It also outlines the relatonship between the telepathic cat-like creatures and their human counterparts. There may have been more than just telepathic beings but am not sure.

The second series is a combination fantasy/sci-fi and is about elves in rulership. This series involves advanced technology along with magery. I vaguely remember shuttlecraft vessels. I believe humans were banned against using magic but can't exactly remember. The elves could practice it and also used it to enhance their weapons and technology in general. On the streets of one planet, I do remember that a human female was caught as a child (I believe). I don't know if she was scanned and found to possess magical abilities or if she was picked up for other reasons. I think one of the elf rulers fell in love with her. I can remember that at the end she and the elven Lord she loved were instrumental in winning some kind of major battle. It may have been a planetary battle of houses against each other.

The third series involves elven mages/sorceror's, can't remember which. This was a rigid society and the lines were drawn between the classes of elves/humans. They had human slaves who were not allowed to practice magery/sorcery. Several slaves were chosen to serve in one of the mage towers. One female in particular caught the attention of one of the elven mages and he had her serve him personally among her other duties. He was attracted to her and began an intimate relationship with her. He got angy with himself... forgot exactly why... and caused her great pain and physical harm. She was hurt of course and confused and thought that he had made her barren. Someone later pointed out to her the fact that the mage/sorceror hadn't truly damaged her womb so that she couldn't bear children. Further in the story, the mage/sorceror escaped with several of the slaves. They were on the run from not only the other elven mages/sorceror's but some god everyone was supposed to serve. The rest of the story outlines their struggle for freedome and to bring down this god. Along the way, the humans are continuing to learn how to master their magics. During some major battle to vanquish the evil god, the mage/sorceror appeared to have been defeated and died. He is not dead but is trapped in another dimension. At certain times the human female crosses some threshold which brings her into contact with her presumably dead mate. She's with child at this point in the story. At the story's end and while she's in labor, she again meets up with her mate who is trapped in another dimension. It is at that point that she realizes that he's been trying, unsuccessfully until this point, to show her how to free him. Once she realizes this, she's able to free him. The first book takes it time to explain the system of the elven mages; the condition of the slaves; the worship of the evil god. It shows us the transition between being field slaves as opposed to being tower slaves.

That's all I remember of any of them.

Is the third series Elvenbane by Andre Norton and Mercedes Lackey? That has the nasty Elven masters and oppressed human slaves.

The second one makes me think of the series that starts off with Tinker. It has elvian houses in conflict, advanced technology, magic, and a young teenage female caught in the thick of things.

Is the first one the Man-Kzin Wars series started by Larry Niven. I've not read it, but it sounds like it could be it.

Sakerfalcon~ No, definitely not that series as the one I'm referring to doesn't have dragons. I'll sure be glad when Lackey finishes Elven Bred though.

MyriadBooks~ No, finished the Tinker series by Wen Spencer and loved it albeit except for the fact that the Elves share their mates after a time. No, the heroine in this series stays human as I don't believe the elves have the same type of power as those in the Tinker story to change a human into an elf. Also, there was never a mention of planet Earth.

tottman~ No, I looked at the Man-Kzin series and the feline creatures from the book I read are definitely NOT the Kzini's. 1) They are highly intelligent; both male AND female. 2) The feline creatures from the book I read were telepathic and worked alongside the humans. They had a common foe. Two chief characters bonded with one another (male feline/female human). They had a baby daughter that was also a telepath and shared her father's feline features. The mother was nervous around her daughter because she was afraid of rejection or that she wouldn't measure up to what the child needed. She loved her mate but was also attracted to his second in command.
