I finished reading this a while ago, but I'm having a hard time remembering the ending. By searching online, I was able to piece together the book. I remember now that her husband is cheating and she ends up teaming up with the girl he's cheating on her with because he's also cheating on someone else. I got confused because two of the girls names started with a "J" which made it confusing. There was also flashbacks in the story to when she was young and a priest had abused her sister. Her mother was very "religious" and thought the sister was evil so she drowned her in front of her sister. Therefore, she has split personalities and this guy she was "married" to, she wasn't actually married to, he was just going along with it because she was paying him and he was actually with this other woman and not really having an affair. It just got a little too far-fetched for me!… (plus d'informations)

I won this as part of a Goodreads Giveaway.

To be honest this really wasn't my kind of book due to the way it was written. I found it to be quite distracting in the way the chapters switched between characters, each of them telling the story form their point of view. I did find I had to keep flipping back to the beginning of the chapter to remind myself who I was reading about.

The story was well written and, at times, quite uncomfortable to read making me put it down for a while to regroup before continuing.

As this was the first book by this Author I have read, I may pick up another of the books, to see if they are all written in the first person.

The Other Mistress by Shanora Williams starts off with an author’s note that warns readers about trigger content. I am glad it is included, but it would have been nice if this was included in the blurb (and then I would not have chosen this book). The Other Mistress starts off on a good note. But then the pacing slows down considerably. I struggled to get through the story to the end. The story is told mostly from Adira’s point of view. We learn very little about Adira in the first half of the book except that she is a successful, rich lingerie designer and that she loves Gabriel, her two-timing husband. I quickly tired of hearing how Adira felt for Gabriel. I do not know how she could forgive cheating and plan to have a child with this man. The dialogue was awkward. The twist at the end was expected. I figured it out long before the reveal. The ending was predictable. There were some bits that were off and there are many holes in the story (think Swiss cheese). I ended up with more than a few questions at the end. The author’s warning was spot on. I ended up skimming over these disturbing sections. I do feel that readers should be warned before obtaining the book. As you can tell, The Other Mistress was not a hit with me.… (plus d'informations)

Adira is deeply in love with Gabriel and wants to start a family. But, she finds out that he is having an affair with someone. When she confronts the person, they decide to help her in her quest to win Gabriel back.
But, it is more complicated than that.
I was really enjoying the novel until the big twist, and then I was disappointed. I won't give away the twist, but I didn't like it.
