- Tarryn was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa. She immigrated to America with her parents when she was thirteen, and spent the next eighteen years in South Florida where she earned her degree in Psychology, wrote her first novel, and had two children. In 2012, on a whim, she moved her family to Seattle, Washington where she currently makes her home safely away from the sun. Tarryn is the founder of Guise of the Villain, a fashion blog, and has written ten published novels. Tarryn is a Slytherin.

Never never. Door: Colleen Hoover en Tarryn Fisher.
Never never (Echt nooit): al in 2015 geschreven door dé enige echte Colleen Hoover; zij verkocht al meer dan 20 miljoen boeken, samen met Tarryn Fisher (mij tot hiertoe onbekend) en nu ook in het Nederlands verschenen; hoera! Een nieuwe Hoover is altijd een feest, en niet alleen voor mij.
We maken kennis met Charlie en Silas; vrienden van kindsbeen af en ondertussen al jaren een koppel. Ze kennen elkaar door en door tot ze elkaar plots niet meer herkennen. Ze herinneren zich nog hoe ze moeten autorijden, foto’s maken, lezen,… maar ze hebben geen herinneringen meer over zichzelf en hun leven samen.
Dat klinkt eng en dat is het ook. Zelfs voor ons lezers. Doorheen het ganse boek voel je een koortsige onrust, ben je mee op zoek naar een verklaring en erger je je rot aan de oppervlakkigheid van de personages; maar dat hoort er natuurlijk bij! Zo voelen Charlie en Silas zich ook.
Ik kon niet stoppen met denken over wat ik in hun situatie zou doen, heb het ook met vrienden besproken. Wat ik boeiend vind is hoe ‘makkelijk’ ze in hun eigen rol stappen, al herinneren ze zich niets meer. Wij mensen worden geleefd en in een mal gestopt door onze omgeving, dag na dag. En dat merk je pas als je niet meer in de pas loopt, je herinneringen kwijt bent. Je gaat je leven van bovenaf bekijken, krijgt een veel klaardere kijk op de mensen om je heen, omdat je ze (weer) voor het eerst ziet. Heel boeiend om bij stil te staan.
Never never is dus een boek dat je in één ruk wil uitlezen (wat is er gebeurd én hoe en komt het ooit goed én hoe dan,…?) maar dat je ook continue een ongemakkelijk gevoel geeft. Het kruipt echt onder je huid. Oordeel vooral zelf.… (plus d'informations)

Iris was sixteen years old when her twin sister Piper was kidnapped. Iris witnessed the crime, but the police say Piper is a runaway. That was years ago, but Iris has never stopped looking for her. But, there's one name that keeps showing up in her searches ...
I liked the premise of the book and was looking forward to her investigation. The tale is told and a then and now style.
Once Iris got to the location, (I don't want to give that away), my spidey senses perked up. Things at this locale are just not quite right. Iris gets offtrack and I wanted to shout at her! Remember why you're here! The romantic line just didn't work for me. I had started out liking Iris and her determination. But it was like a different character as the book progressed.
The pace picks up and there are some great action and suspense bits in this part of the plot. Fisher introduces more than a few twists and turns on the way to the final pages. Some of these twists ask the reader to suspend belief. And I just couldn't - there was too much that was too far fetched. And just in case, the ending of the book is explained by Iris. Give me a novel with family secrets and a creepy asylum and you have a winner. This one has all of the above.
