The Bitter Truth by Shanora Williams

Jolene "Jo" Baker seems to have it all; the wife of the charming Governor of North Carolina, Dominic Baker. Until one day while on the campaign trail a mysterious woman appears, putting Dominic into a frenzy.

He becomes paranoid, evasive and a bit "off". Soon bizarre and dangerous events begin to occur, causing concern and bewilderment for Jo. Dominic won't give her answers, as he appears to be hiding something from her. Jo decides to dig deep to find the bitter truth at any cost.

The story moves at a fast pace, brilliantly told from different perspectives (had me) on the edge of my seat. As secrets are revealed and truths unfold, shocking twists, turns and didn't-see-that-coming moments, I was hooked.

The Bitter Truth is a must read for those who enjoy thrilling suspense filled psychological reads. I look forward to reading more by Shanora Williams. A definite five-star read! ( )

Even though Shanora Williams has written a few previous novels, "The Bitter Truth", is the first novel of hers that I have read. One of my favorite genres is mystery/thrillers, and "The Bitter Truth" did not disappoint! The plot follows the lives of husband and wife, Dominic and Jolene Baker. Even though they came from vastly different backgrounds, their paths crossed while attending Duke University. With Jolene's support, family contacts and financial backing, Dominic finds himself elected to the position of the governor of North Carolina. Dominic has a past that he does everything within his power to keep hidden. However, strange messages begin appearing and a chance encounter with an odd woman could threaten his otherwise seemingly perfect life. Not all is what it appears to be. There are a lot of twists and turns in this novel, that make it an enjoyable read. I look forward to reading previous and future novels by this wonderful author! ( )
