Another fluff-read for bedtime.

Juvenile writing and characterization.

Author has no understanding of some of the things she's writing about. In one case, someone is shot, and receives a "grazing" wound, but later on in the book, this is transformed into a "through-and-through." Not the same thing.

Another character undergoes brainwashing for 2-3 weeks, but then miraculously recovers because he finally realizes people care about him. And half the people he's thinking care about him were news to me.

The "bad guys" are really cartoonish. The protagonist and her buddies aren't very well developed characters.

These are just a couple of examples.

I will go on to read the final volume, just because I need something to read before bed. I am kind of interested in what ends up happening and maybe about the rest of this world, but only mildly.

There are few books I've read that I just genuinely disliked, but this was one of them. The concept sounded interesting- men buy wives on the internet, women are basically kept as dumb slaves- and I thought it had a lot of places it could go. Government conspiracies, secret eugenics programs, a capitalist take on The Handmaid's Tale with a bit of 1984 thrown in? All of those would have been cool. Unfortunately what I got was three hundred pages of clumsy and juvenile writing, character growth replaced by "girl becomes whinier as story progresses", mistaking first blushes of hormones as love (and even that was overly rushed at points and frustratingly stagnated at others, pacing is a serious problem here), a villain that can best be described as "boringly psychotic", and more clichés than you can shake a stick at. I would like a refund on the time it took me to read this book.… (plus d'informations)

Looking for a new dystopian trilogy? Look no further! This is a book that will be hard to put down and will leave you wishing you had the next book. In this new America, girls are raised to be brides and sold to the highest bidder, and boys are raised to be soldiers ready to fight. Follow eighteen year old Mia as she goes on a journey to be a free woman and see what happens to create "The Registry".

I am so glad that I did not pay for this book. What really suprised me is that publishers will get together with such a ploy to get people to buy other books. I will tell you why I did NOT read this book. If I want a book I want more than three chapters. I will not buy a book that is pushed on me by anyone and I am happy to say that a few of these books are on my to read shelf where they will stay until I can read the entire book. I do not mind when an author puts the first or second chapter at the end of their own book but, three chapters of a book to get business is ridiculous. Word of mouth, marketing, and authors are who get the word out about books not a ploy to get people to buy a book like this. The only reason it even earned one star from me is because I got it for free.
