Dragonesque par S.C. Butler
One of the annual anthologies published by Zombies Need Brains. This one features stories about dragons from their point of view. Great selection! Favorites were The Princess Network about how dragons got their maidens and how the relationship isn't what is popularly thought and The Breeding Habits of Dragons featuring a very lifelike tattoo.
I enjoyed the 2nd book of this series as much as the first. Varis has become a favorite character of mine. Mr. Palmatier manages to give a lot of time to character study without slowing the story. He has also mastered the trick of how to end a book leaving you wanting more. Probably won't get to the third book until May but I look forward to seeing where he takes us next.

I tore through this book in about a day, which surprised me, the enjoyment factor was definitely there.
The author has some good ideas, and although the execution at times could be a bit better, the overall story is pretty enjoyable.
Interesting "magic", a main character that you can feel for and an ending that isn't a cliffhanger. The book also packs in a decent amount of action.

An interesting assortment of stories. Some are nearly horror (zombies, mutation by virus, mutation by comet...). There's a Torin Kerr story by Tanya Huff - a previously-untold (as far as I know) story of her time in Recon, and a very (very) nasty mission. Just who was testing what? There's some very rich stories about teamwork and partnership - the one about rescuing the alien, and the last story about the climbers, stick in my mind. And the recovered zombie. The weirdest one was the dimensional rift - and annoying, too, they knew how it ended (after all, it already happened). Overall, worth reading, and probably worth rereading - I may skip some of the stories, though (the Ropers is an annoying structure with a very creepy story in it, for instance - I could stand not reading that again. Well-written, just not for me).… (plus d'informations)
