Courte biographie
At the age of eighteen in December, 1910, Brother King obeyed the gospel under the preaching of A. C. Crenshaw. Immediately after his baptism he began to take an active part in the public work of the church. His first sermon was preached in 1915, and two years later he conducted the first protracted meeting near Norwood, Missouri. For the next forty-seven years he actively preached the Gospel in most of the United States. During this time, Brother King engaged in numerous debates, oral and written, including a written debate with Brother N. L. Clark on the number of cups to be used in one assembly. This debate later appeared in tract form. He is a song leader, was a vocal music teacher and song writer, having compiled twenty-two song books. In 1945 he published Old Paths Pulpit, a book of sermons. Brother King began his writing in the Apostolic Way. Later he wrote for The Truth as an associate editor. In 1932 Editor H. C. Harper turned the publication over to Brother King, and the name was changed to Old Paths Advocate. He published this for thirty years, until he turned it over to Brother Don McCord in 1962, after suffering a severe stroke. In 1976 Brother King reassumed the publishing of Old Paths Advocate. Brother King has been in the fight against all departures from the Word of God since his obedience to the Gospel, in both the press and the pulpit." ---From the Old Paths Pulpit No. 2 (1978).
