Debra Jane Sivyer married Randy Fields at age 19 and took the name she is famous for now.  In 1977, she started from scratch what became one of the most visible and successful business empires. Mrs. Field Cookies is a quality brand known and respected throughout the USA and worldwide.

It’s Cookie Heaven! Here readers will find a variety of recipes for Drop Cookies, Fancy Cookies, Filled Cookies, and Bar Cookies as well as recipes for some special dessert treats.

These recipes are not meant to replicate the cookies readers may have purchased in the mall . . . they are adapted for the home kitchen using ingredients home bakers can easily acquire. [They use ingredients made especially for Mrs. Fields for those cookies.]

The recipes are clear, easy to follow, and are not overly complicated. Each recipe features a picture of the cookie or dessert; many also include a picture illustrating a step or two in the process of creating the cookie.

As with all recipe books, readers will find their own special favorites; there are some recipes here for exceptionally good cookies. Special favorites include the Mocha Chunk Cookies, the Cinnamon Maple Rings, and the Bull’s Eyes.

Each reader/baker will have to decide which cookies are destined to become favorites.

Someday I may borrow this book from the library again when I have more time to experiment. Mrs Fields uses lower temperatures to bake and so everything takes longer. Some of the bar cookies need to cook up to an hour. Even the drop cookies have baking times longer than I'm used to. I'm curious about the difference between her version of some basic recipes (like chocolate chip) and what I usually make.

Chocolate shortbread. White Chocolate cheesecake. Enough said.

This is a very good book, though, ironically, its weakest recipe is the chocolate chip cookies! The lemon poppyseed cookies, pb & chocolate bars, and pecan pie bars are always favorites.
