With beautiful, vivid descriptions, and a lush fantasy world where children are whisked into a kingdom inhabited by talking animals, this story will appeal to fans of the Narnia series. I was dazzled by author Stacie Eirich’s visual painting of the night sky, drawn into the mystery of a gentle talking white tiger and a lost queen, and Suzie and Jack as they discover a magic key, try to help new friends and discover a way home. After finding themselves lost in their new fantasy world, can they find a way out?

A wonderful tale for young readers or to enjoy at bedtime! Descriptions and poetry are lovely. My one small critique might have been that the ending left us in a rather unfinished place… I would have perhaps preferred a story that felt complete in itself, even if clearly Suzie and Jack have many more adventures ahead of them, and new kingdoms to explore, but that is a small flaw, and I look forward to reading on in this world!

Simply enchanting prose. Author Stacie Eirich illustrates this third kingdom in Jack and Suzie’s journey to get home with vivid, lyrical language, delightful rhymes at the start of chapters, and descriptions you can taste and smell and see. Jack and Suzie, along with their two friends, are now in the dragon kingdom, which made me smile with its images of dragons in aprons cooking roast beef, and must find the gems that make up the “wishing stone” in order to return home.

Following riddles left upon magic scrolls (these were especially well done), they journey through caves, into enchanted seas, encounter chimeras (not a good house pet!), wyverns, not so nice fairies, and mermaids as they work to recover each part of the missing stone. The world-building was fabulous. As we journeyed for each new part of the stone, I was on the edge of my seat for what exotic corner of the kingdom I would be shown next. My favorite part of the dragon kingdom was the mermaid’s palace. Such lush descriptions of sea life and a seahorse race to boot! This was an enchanting fantasy tale, and a lovely story of friends united in a common goal.

Suzie, Jack, Elena and Liam leave behind everyday life to battle mystical creatures, recover magical stones and restore good magic to the Dragon Kingdom. While each learns about their special powers and inner strength, they help and support each other as well as selflessly saving the creatures they have come to assist.

Set in an enchanted world, the four children are welcomed to the Dragon Kingdom by Queen Belakane and given instructions on how to save the kingdom. With their loyal dragons, Thistlefire, Brightwing, Firesong and Starlight, they travel between worlds meeting mythical creatures and danger and they fight for the pieces Wishing Stone.

Well-suited for middle grade readers, Dragon Kingdom & the Wishing Stone blends poetry, riddles, drawings and imaginative storytelling to entertain fantasy and adventure loving readers. Lots of action is sprinkled through the book and the array of worlds and creatures is sure to fascinate young readers.

Dragon Kingdom & The Wishing Stone is the third adventure in The Dream Chronicles series, but can be read as a standalone book, although knowing the previous stories would give more context to the creatures and characters in the book. An enjoyable read for sure!

I was assigned this book in the Review Group 168.

This is a quaint book of different types of poems focusing on sunny days and spring mornings and all things light and airy or bright and beautiful. I'm not a big fan of short poems unless they communicate something outstanding. A lot of the poems in this book were short and also very similar to each other, almost as if the author was at times trying out different word combinations to see which sounded best.

I liked the longer poems that were clearly communicating something of the life of the author. There were poems to do with her relationship with her children and other life experiences. Also those about her animals. I enjoyed those documenting the beauty of her surroundings at a particular moment in time. The best poem, in my opinion, was one about a shipwreck.

The spiritual aspect of the poetry was interesting for me because it suggests a longing for something but not quite being able to grasp it. As a Christian, I believe that Something or Someone is God. The author speaks, though, about angels and other mystical beings. There is a poem at the very end all about wanting to be free of restraints and to be able to do whatever we want. The poem suggests that this would make the world a better place...I respectfully disagree.

This book of poetry will appeal to some and is worth reading perhaps for someone who is struggling with life. However, I would suggest that the author could be more selective in the poems included so that each poem in the compilation has something unique to say to the reader.
