Into The Light: Poems combines two previously published short collections (Canvas of Imagination: Poems & Spring Awakening: Poems) with new poems written from Summer 2016-Spring 2017. Inspired by nature, love, books & writing, the stars & dreams, Into The Light: Poems is inspirational, romantic and hopeful. Influenced by fairy tales, these poems reflect a sense of wonder and creative spirit that the author hopes is alive in everyone. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |

This is a quaint book of different types of poems focusing on sunny days and spring mornings and all things light and airy or bright and beautiful. I'm not a big fan of short poems unless they communicate something outstanding. A lot of the poems in this book were short and also very similar to each other, almost as if the author was at times trying out different word combinations to see which sounded best.
I liked the longer poems that were clearly communicating something of the life of the author. There were poems to do with her relationship with her children and other life experiences. Also those about her animals. I enjoyed those documenting the beauty of her surroundings at a particular moment in time. The best poem, in my opinion, was one about a shipwreck.
The spiritual aspect of the poetry was interesting for me because it suggests a longing for something but not quite being able to grasp it. As a Christian, I believe that Something or Someone is God. The author speaks, though, about angels and other mystical beings. There is a poem at the very end all about wanting to be free of restraints and to be able to do whatever we want. The poem suggests that this would make the world a better place...I respectfully disagree.
This book of poetry will appeal to some and is worth reading perhaps for someone who is struggling with life. However, I would suggest that the author could be more selective in the poems included so that each poem in the compilation has something unique to say to the reader. ( )
