This is a favorite cookbook of mine, full of delicious and simple vegetarian recipes. I like that it's laid out by vegetable in alphabetical order, making it easy to find a recipe for whatever is in your CSA box or available at the farmer's market. The recipes don't call for hard-to-find ingredients; I believe the most 'exotic' ingredient I saw was miso. I'm a cookbook collector and fully admit that I'm a cookbook snob (I read them like novels). I don't often give a cookbook 5 stars, but this one definitely earns all 5.… (plus d'informations)

I checked this out of the library because I wanted to review it before investing in another cookbook. Well, after noting about 20 recipes I wanted to try, and looking on the website The Love & Lemons Cookbook, I think I might be buying this book soon. While the recipes are mostly vegan and gluten-free, which means I don't have to modify for my gluten-free, dairy-free daughter, they will appeal to a variety of palates. And you can add eggs, chicken, or sausage to many of them if you wish. Each recipe is accompanied by a beautiful full color photo that had my mouth watering. The directions are simple and the author offers variations and suggestions from soups to spreads, tacos to salads. It's easy to see why this author won Saveur's Best Cooking Blog Award.… (plus d'informations)

A great collection of vegetable recipes, organized in a way that makes my heart happy: alphabetically!

Yes, yes an organization nerd am I! This book is enjoyable to read, bright, cheerful, full of delicious recipes for fruits and vegetables starting with Apple and ending with Zucchini.

I have tried the Summer Squash Succotash (to deal with the abundance of zucchini in summertime), and the Baked Eggs with Kale and Sweet Potatoes(a perfect balance of flavours, and healthy to boot!) with great success. Not being fond of zucchini, I usually resort to slicing and baking them into chips. The succotash was fun to make, and tasted delicious! I now have three options for preparing zucchini so that those who are not fans will enjoy it! Having corn and chickpeas really makes the dish satisfying as a main, rather than merely a side.

The baked eggs with kale was tasty and very quick. That these are made individually allows the eggs to be cooked per personal preference, so everyone is satisfied with minimal fuss.

Recipes are all about flavour, and are very approachable, straightforward and easy to follow. While author Donofrio is not completely re-inventing the wheel, these recipes are fresh and delicious.

The forward / introduction states that recipes included are vegetarian or vegan, although some feature cheeses that might not be suitable for vegetarians (hello animal enzymes...). If adhering to a vegetarian diet is important for you, just be careful to choose cheeses that are suitable for vegetarians, which, unfortunately, most European cheeses are not. If you live in the US, such cheeses are easy to find, and the ingredients will show that (vegetable rennet or vegetable enzymes) and they might even be labeled 'suitable for vegetarians.'

Loved the layout, the colors, the font, the content, the recipes. Looking forward to trying Shiitake & Spinach Miso Soup, the Chipotle Apple Guacamole, and the Raspberry Lemon Dutch Baby.

Recommended for home cooks wanting to intensify their vegetable dishes, without having to follow fiddly, laborious recipes.
