REVIEW:

This is the fourth novel by William Brown that I’ve read, the others being Winner Lose All, The Undertaker and Thursday at Noon and I rate this the best yet. The plot was easy to follow and it is patently clear that Bill has his own natural style, bringing all the characters to life. I was ‘hooked’ right from the first chapter becoming totally involved in the ensuing story and finding it very hrad to put down for even a minute. All the elements of the characters have been well researched, making this book a good story and a great read. An excellent cold war spy novel in the era of the Third Reich that I have awarded four stars.

This historical novel from William Brown is the second book I’ve read by this author and although I felt it was slow to start, the tension built and was a good read on a subject around the cold war that has been very largely neglected by novelists. I’m rating this one 3 stars.

This is a very well written WWII historical novel that I thoroughly enjoyed. It is somewhat different to your average WWII story. There is interaction between conflicting allies and the action mostly occurs before and at the end of the war. The author has skillfully brought together an American agent, a Captain of the Royal Horse Guards, a Sergeant Major and a communist resistance fighter and developed the characters, including a love affair into an excellent spy story. I award the book four stars.… (plus d'informations)

The balance between serious and light hearted worked well. The ordinary man doing the extraordinary was well motivated and almost plausible throughout. The writing quality was excellent. The pace and plot sustained my interest.
