Courte biographie
Charlotte MacLeod, born in New Brunswick, Canada, and a naturalized U.S. citizen, is the multi-award-winning author of over thirty acclaimed novels. Her series featuring detective Professor Peter Shandy, America's homegrown Hercule Poirot, delivers "generous dollops of...warmth, wit, and whimsy" (San Francisco Sunday Examiner and Chronicle). But fully a dozen novels star her popular husband-and-wife team of Sarah Kelling and Max Bittersohn. And her native Canada provides a backdrop for the amusing Grub-and-Stakers cozies written under the pseudonym Alisa Craig. A cofounder and past president of the American Crime Writers League, she has also edited the bestselling anthologies Mistletoe Mysteries and Christmas Stalkings.

During the annual Groundhog Day celebrations at Baaclava Agricultural College a body is discovered floating in the pond. Wierdly, it echoes the dress and murder method from a century-old poem Professor Shandy is assigned by the college head to discover the facts behind the strange body and while he is at it also stop a lawsuit against the college alledging that Oozaks Pond does not belong to the college at all.

Audiobook.

Didn't get very far with this. Every time the narrator pronounced Rhys as 'Riss' it made me want to scream. Fortunately I had not paid anything - it was included in Audible membership.

Sara has now turned her home into a Boarding House to pay off the mortgage debts that she has inherited and Max is one of her tenants in a basement apartment. He takes her to a museum as a treat (date?) where they happen to see an elderly guard falling over a railing to the courtyard below. This is the beginning of an investigation for fake art. Lots of interesting, beatnikie characters come into play plus the relatives and tenants of Sara’s.

I liked this book better than Family Vault. Max is obviously sweet on Sara and there’s plenty of funny situations and hijinks to make it a quick and amusing read. It is dated however.… (plus d'informations)

The family vault is opened for the burial of an uncle and there's a mystery brick wall inside. They discover a woman's skeleton who was a famous stripper in the 1950s. Sarah's husband is very upset and after the funeral they decide to go to their beach house with his mother, who lives with them, and is blind and deaf. The following morning Sarah's husband and mother-in-law go for a drive and lose control of the car and go off the cliff and are killed. Sarah believes the car was tampered with and then strange things start happening around the house. With the help of an insurance investigator, Sarah discovered what happened and how the deaths are linked together.… (plus d'informations)
