High on Smut, low on paranormal

This was... something. I honestly thought the paranormal part was all a gag, because until the last chapter its just basically kinky smut with a bit of "oh right fated mates".

I guess I like more bite in my vampire smut.

Carly starts pretty well rounded out, some flesh to her character, but once Dominic takes her to the bathroom it all goes sexy and she's on a constant silent refrain of "Wow I love this", "More harder" and "that's so hot". We did learn about her through this, as she examined how his commanding, brusque tone made her feel.

Meanwhile Dominic (or Sir) is...okay? At times he seems almost rushed to get from one experience with Carly to the next. I don't know how much time passed throughout but he went through a handbook of kinky things - spanking, candles, sex toys, bound...he couldn't seem to figure out what he wanted most and just kept dragging Carly around. Thankfully, despite some dubious narrative language Kincade makes it clear Carly is 100% DTF, otherwise it was getting a bit suspicious.

Then the ending just happens. Dominic has an epiphany, he tells Carly, Carly is like "yea please!" and the story skips to a year later when apparently all the ACTUAL paranormal shenanigans occurred.

This was a quick read and Carly is possibly one of the best short stort MCs I've read in a while.… (plus d'informations)

A fun and quick and easy read for supernatural romance fans, this book is the 5th in a NA fantasy series, and it doesn't disappoint. The witches and their supernatural mates are an eclectic and diverse but compatible group of characters at a magical academy and the series storyline is escalating at a steady pace. The plot and side stories have been interesting, although there was one bit that was a little predictable in this one. It's still a worthwhile read if this is your cup of tea, especially if you've followed the rest of the series. Looking forward to the next installment as well.

The Earth Witch is another good work in this New Adult fantasy romance series. The MC, like all of the previous books, has personality traits associated with her element, so each novel is unique but part of a whole and is kind of like a college version of Harry Potter. Jade has a quiet nurturing strength but struggles with her own self-image and worth at first. Plenty of steamy scenes too, so I would classify more as NA then YA. In theory I like the male counterpart, he was supportive, a healer, handsome, but he did not equally complement the female lead as much as other male MCs in the previous books. Overall, a fun series and one I look forward to continuing with the next two books. There's a mysterious quest this coven has accepted and I have to find out what happens. Recommended for NA urban fantasy and supernatural fans.
