Nothing new here. This felt like the same old same old you always hear about how to deal with emotions. If I could deal with things like this I wouldn't have anxiety and I have anxiety because I can't deal with things like this. And on and on.

In general, easy to read and incorporate into your life in small steps. Suggestions were attainable, though my anxiety is far from debilitating. Appreciated steps were those of stopping to identify the TYPE of thought I am having, which allows me to focus on why I am feeling a spike of anxiety.

Book is written for a lay person, though it does focus on CBT steps which many therapists would use, too. Good source for self-help if your anxiety doesn't stall every step you try to take yourself. ( )

Appreciate that the author provides some real-world examples and walks you through personalizing your own approach to alleviating anxiety through CBT. Found it helpful that there are concrete steps to take and a program that you can follow or share with others in your community who are struggling with anxiety.

I received this book as an LT Give Away in exchange for a review. My extended family has a history os generalized anxiety so I thought this might be helpful. The writing was done well and easy to understand. Dr. Minden was also very good at giving real life examples that were great illustrations of anxiety, and how one may feel, throughout the book. I also liked how the suggested worksheets were available online as well. I have yet to try the full program but in reading, I can see how if these steps are repeated over enough to become automatic that it would, indeed, be very helpful. I think if you are self-motivated and are into self-help that this would definitely be something to try. ( )

Minden has written a clear, direct guide to dealing with anxiety based on the principles of cognitive behavioral therapy. Straightforward instructions are accompanied by exercises for putting recommendations into practice. The last chapter of the book leads the reader through a process for developing a personalized anxiety-management plan. This should prove to be a helpful guide to anyone experiencing anxiety either occasionally or on an ongoing basis. ( )
