Spanning centuries, from the Ottoman Turks to castle bastions to 19th century London, Memoirs of an Immortal Life delivers an intimate look into the thoughts and trials of “a creature both feared and misunderstood.” Through three varying viewpoints, the dark mystery of the vampiric bloodline is intricately explored, fusing both human and other in the areas of medicine, Christ, royalty and the like. In fact, the genealogy and countless reinventions of the “creature” are so cleanly interwoven with historical events, you almost forget that what you’re reading is fictitious. All in all, an informative, incisive and intense recollection of the Immortal condition. ( ) The order of Dracul is not what you imagined. I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. This is a book that is compiled of three journals, Van Helsing, Claudia Van Helsing and Dracula. This gives the perfect background to Dracula. The telling of his days in captivity make you feel sorry for him and make him truly human. I loved this book and the authors take on the Dracula story. Only warning is that with this being journal entries it might be hard for some to follow, but I really like how the author did it and it works for this story. Cette critique a été rédigée pour LibraryThing Member Giveaways. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I liked this story. Some may be put off by the format. It is written as journal entries of the 3 characters, Dracula, Claudia Van Helsing, and Dr Van Helsing. While it was odd, at first, to jump back and forth between perspectives, in the end, it helped to tell the whole story. There were a few formatting, spelling and word errors, but not enough to spoil my enjoyment of the story. It was a new take on Dracula and painted him in a far more sympathetic light. Nicely done. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
The complexity of the relationshipmy father shared with our visitorwas not known to me. He possesseda certain allurement, one noteasily understood, yet subtleand understated. When he first arrived,I could not not know he would be the keyto my salvation or that I, in turn, would also be his. It wasonly with time the truth would becomeknown and the courage would rise topublish it. My name is Claudia Van Helsing, the daughter of Abraham Van Helsing, niece of Vladimir Baserab Tepes, a proud member of the Order of the Dracul, and the last living descendantof the man the world came to know asDracula. This is our story, his story, and how acreature once reviled came to be my protector, savior, and the beloved holder of my heart, my dreams, and my life.
