Well, after having read several memoirs regarding the Spanish Civil War, I am finally going to dig into a long, detailed history, Antony Beevor's The Battle for Spain. I know there are several long relatively contemporary histories about this war. Does anybody know where Beevor's stacks up among them in terms of scholarship and accuracy? Over the first few pages, his writing style seems welcoming, which is a big deal considering the book is 580 pages long.
