Question???

ok so i just got my kindle for christmas. today i downloaded a free sample. now that i'm done viewing the sample, can i delete it?? if so, how is this done?

* Get to the Kindle's home screen
* Scroll up/down to the title you want to delete
* Push the directional thingy LEFT

You should now see an option to delete.

Ha! I always push that directional thingy to the RIGHT when I'm going to delete. I'll try left next time!

Actually, if you push the directional thingy to the RIGHT, you'll get a whole screenful of options, including Delete This Sample at the bottom (which means you'll have to push the directional thingy down until you get to the bottom of the list).

BE CAREFUL: On the "directional thingy to the RIGHT" screen (and also on the "Book Description" screen), the default selection is to buy the book. If you accidentally press that "directional thingy" (scroll button) while the Buy option is selected, then you've bought the book! If you do press the scroll button and buy something, the next screen asks you if you bought it in error and you still have a chance to reject the purchase. (If you do that, Amazon may keep your money for several days before refunding it.) If you don't manage to reject the purchase correctly, then you've bought it and you'll have to contact Customer Service to get the book removed and your money refunded.

It's a pain-in-the-neck, and it's one feature of K2 that I don't at all like. I don't recall having this kind of problem on my K1, but I primarily use my K2 today and only keep my K1 for back-up, so I'm not sure if it was a K1 problem also or whether Jeff Bezos got this sneaky idea when he designed K2.
