I will fill these in, doing both author and title ABCs. My goal is to do an A author, followed by an A title, then a B author, followed by a B title.
(No touchstones in this initial message (too hard to keep fixing these)).
I do not intend to do these to the exclusion of everything else, but where a book fits into another challenge, such as 1010 or the American Presidents, I plan to run with it.
A--Abbott, Karen--Sin in the Second City--finished on 1/25/10
A--As They See 'Em by Bruce Weber--finished on 1/13/10

Yes, welcome! So, it looks like you aren't counting both author and title on the same book, and you aren't going in ABC order - right?
4RidgewayGirl
Yay! Welcome Linda. So you're finding a challenge to keep you busy until Christmas, I see!

#3, Sandy, actually, I don't know what I'm doing. Right now, I am just jotting down ideas.
I'd love to read books that are all the same letter, like if Ace Atkins wrote a book called Academy.
Realistically, I'd like to start with an A title and then an A author. I certainly won't be doing this to the exclusion of everything else, though. I think I'd feel miserable doing that.

#5 "I'd love to read books that are all the same letter, like if Ace Atkins wrote a book called Academy" That would be neat - but just about impossible, I'll bet.
There are a couple of people here who are doing the A-title + A-author, then B-title + B-author, etc, pattern. I thinks that's another good idea, and you wouldn't have to do that at the exclusion of everything else.

#6, Sandy, that seems to be a good way of doing it--A/A, B/B etc. Actually, it might be best not to stock the list too far ahead of time.
If an A book fits the 1010 challenge for instance, that'd be fine, but this could also be a break from the 1010 challenge. At only 100 books, that should leave me with more room next year for these "extras."

#7 I'd like to get my two lists syncronized so that I could read title and author back to back. If you've got a C book that would fit your 1010, you could wait until you're ready for C so that you can count it on both challenges.

I was browsing through the books I own on my Kindle and was pleased to find that I own a book by a Z author.
The Z author book is by Jeffrey Zaslow and it's called Girls from Ames.
Now if I can just find an X author...

I'm hoping to read the A books and A authors, in order. Finally got around to reading an A book, namely, As They See 'Em: A Fan's Travels in the Land of Umpires by Bruce Weber.
At this rate, one per month (ha!!), I should finish this in 4 years.

Yay--finally done with the As. I just finished a book I'd been hoping to read for a long time, Karen Abbott's Sin in the Second City about the upscale brothel, the Everleigh Club, in Chicago during the early part of the 20th century.
On to the B books!!
On to the B books!!
12lindapanzo
I've now finished the B books, after reading both a B author and a B title during the past week, namely, Deb Baker's cozy mystery, Ding Dong Dead and, earlier in the week, Biblioholism: The Literary Addiction by Tom Raabe.
On to the C books.

Finished Isis Crawford's A Catered Birthday Party last night during the Oscars. One of my least favorite mysteries in awhile.
Anyway, I am counting it towards the C author. Next up will be a C title (I am not counting the same book twice).

Finally through the Cs. On to the Ds now.
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon
This is an amazing book, sort of a mystery, featuring a 15-year old autistic boy who is a mathematical genius. In his own unique, eye-opening way, Christopher investigates the death of a neighbor's dog, among other things.
I wouldn't say it's a great book but it does present a totally different perspective on life.

Having finished my D author, Lorraine B. Diehl's Over Here!: New York City During World War II, I can now move on to the Es. Not sure which I will read for my E author and E title yet.
16lindapanzo
Woo-hoo, I finished both my E title and my E author on the same day!!
In the morning, I finished Marcus Eriksen's My River Home: My Journey from the Gulf War to the Gulf of Mexico and then, late in the evening, finished Laura Child's Cackleberry Club mystery Eggs Benedict Arnold.

Finished with the F's, both author and title. Now on to the G's.

Can't believe it's been over 2 months since I last read an alphabetical book. Hopefully, it won't be as long til the next one.
19lindapanzo
I hadn't done anything, in terms of my ABC reading for two months. Then, suddenly, back to back ABC reads.
I guess that's how it goes, sometimes.

Linda, I saw your last post was was waiting for you to come back and tell us what you'd read. Then I realized that you just listed them at the top of the thread. Duh. Do you have anything planned for your "I" books or will you just wait for something to show up on its own?

#20 Sandy, I sort of lost track of this challenge for awhile.
For my I title, I plan to read the new JD Robb book, Indulgence in Death when it comes out next month. Not sure about the I author. I need to look into them but, currently, I'm thinking I'll read the first one by that Icelandic author. I think it's called Jar City by Arnaldur Indridason.

I've sort of lost track of this but my first 2011 read is the Icelandic mystery, Jar City which is by an I author, Arnaldur Indridason.
