Feel free to talk about anything you want to.

As a starter are you looking forward to getting back to the Sigma Force Series? Why?

>1 Andrew-theQM: Thank you for all of the info about the group read. This is only my second so I am not as clued up as others.

This series is new to me but so far I'm enjoying the book and I appreciate the author giving a bit of information useful to new readers as he goes along. This means that I am able to read without feeling continually puzzled.

Oh yes, Andrew, but above all I'm looking forward to getting back with all my friends, and welcome to the group Maura.

Great to have you with us >Maura49. I will post questions each day about each of the 6 sections of the book then people are free to answer as many or as few questions as they want to, and also to respond to other’s answers to make it a real discussion. It is an excellent series, one of my favourites. If any questions about past plot lines from previous books please ask them and if our memories allow we will try to answer them. 🤣🙈

>2 Maura49: Forgot to say Maura the questions are just prompts for discussion really, and the discussion usually goes in all sort of directions. It actually brings the book to life much more and always get more out of books we discuss.

>5 Andrew-theQM: I believe that Threadsong from The Read It Track It group also expressed interest in joining us. I had told her that she needed to join the Mystery & Suspense group since that was where we discussed our books. Nor sure if she ever did. Just checked and she is a member of that group but maybe she needs and invite to this one?????

Carol are you able to do what you used to do and put a list of the scores for the previous books in the series. If you don’t have time let me know and I will pull it together.

>9 Andrew-theQM: Okay...this is what I have. I don't have All the information. I have overall ratings for some of the books but the last few have everything EXCEPT the ratings. Here's the link, https://www.librarything.com/topic/227836#n7265294. I'm including an example. This may not be what you were looking for.

Book Discussion:
Series: Sigma Force Book #8
Publication Date: March 26, 2013

Book Description: Galilee, 1025. Infiltrating an ancient citadel, a Templar knight uncovers a holy treasure long hidden within the fortress's labyrinth: the Bachal Isu -- the staff of Jesus Christ -- a priceless icon that holds a mysterious and terrifying power that promises to change humankind forever. A millennium later, Somali pirates hijack a yacht off the coast of the Horn of Africa, kidnapping a young pregnant American woman. Commander Gray Pierce is enlisted for a covert rescue mission into the African jungle. The woman is no rich tourist: she's Amanda Gant-Bennett, daughter of the U.S. president. Suspicious that the kidnapping masks a far more nefarious plot, Gray must confront a shadowy cabal which has been manipulating events throughout history...and now challenges the current presidency. For this unique mission, SIGMA is aided by a pair of special operatives with unique talents: former Army Ranger Captain Tucker Wayne and his military war dog, Kane. But what should be a straightforward rescue turns into a fiery ambush and a deadly act of betrayal, as Gray and his team discover that the hostage is a pawn in a shattering act of terrorism with dark repercussions. And the danger is only beginning... Halfway around the world, a firebombing at a fertility clinic in South Carolina exposes a conspiracy that goes back centuries...a scheme that lies within our genetic code. With time against them, SIGMA must race to save an innocent unborn baby whose very existence raises questions about the nature of humanity, asking: Could you live forever? Would you live forever?

Dates Read: November 6, 2020 - November 12, 2020
Participants & Ratings: (8)- Andrew - Sergei - Carol - Lynda - Eadie - Bluebird - Brenda - Gayle
Overall Average Rating:

From the appearance of this, and the dates...November 2020... I think it was going to be our next read but COVID put our lives on hold and the read never happened. I can probably do this since it really is mostly a copy & paste thing. Don't want to reinvent the wheel:)

I'm looking forward to being back with my favorite group of readers and discussing some great mystery series. I'm sorry I couldn't join you all for Gallery of the Dead, but my cross country trip from Michigan to Arizona was very tiring. I did finish Gallery this week and gave it a 4.5. Love those guys.

One of the reasons we moved back to Arizona permanently was because in July 2020 my stepson started getting terrible headaches. Remember at that time, hospitals were only taking covid patients. Unfortunately he had a stroke and was found unconscious by a neighbor after two days. He was unconscious and in ICU on a feeding tube for five months. When he came around it turned out he was completely paralyzed on his right side. He suffered just a little brain damage and is probably 95% back to normal. He's been in a nursing home since then. It was really difficult for us to be out of the state for six months. When we got back, we bought a handicap van and now we can at least take him out of there occasionally. He burst into tears when we told him we were taking him to lunch at a nice steakhouse. We hope continued therapy will eventually allow him to leave the nursing home. He's only 46.

Anyway, glad to see you all again!

I’m so sorry Lynda! Sounds like he’s made tremendous strides since it happened, i hope he continues to recover. It’s terrific you are able to provide some support. He’s lucky to have you.

My LT history tells me I’ve not read a Rollins book since 2011. I find this surprising, but I know I skipped the GR’s because I had already read thru book 7. I’m glad to get back to this author—he’s never let me down!

>14 Olivermagnus: You and your husband are amazing. I really can't find another word to adequately describe what you are doing for your son. I'm sure he will have more reason to work hard on recovery now that you two are with him. Looking forward to reading with you.

>2 Maura49: Just to let you know when I do the questions I give them all a number, e.g. 1, 2 etc. which indicates which section the question is from, so all the questions from section 1 have a 1 in front of them. This way prevents looking at questions from section 2 if you haven’t read that section yet and avoids spoilers.

I have truly missed discussing books with you guys and Sigma Force was a good re-entry point since it was from this series that I first did a discussion with you all. Fun times
