Recently I've been enjoying books written in the style of a children's book, but for adults, such as You're Only Old Once!, or in a more violent/offensive vein, the work of Edward Gorey, and newer books such as The Baby Jesus Butt Plug: A Fairy Tale and Everything Can Be Beaten. What are some other books like these?

Oh, my roommate has a picture book that has a story along the lines of Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, but a lot more absurd and with a lot more death....

The name is slipping my mind at the moment, but I'll check when I get home.

Yiddish with Dick and Jane, somewhat obscene. Very funny.

Okay, the sick-humor morbid picture book I was talking about in message 2 is called Oopsy Daisy's Bad Bad Day, by Brian Brooks.

The recently published The Dangerous Book for Boys might fall into this category.

Just ordered it; perhaps I'll write a review when I've had a chance to go through it.

I think "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the nighttime" is a book that would appeal to any age group.
Also, even though it's been a while since my first copy of the book,I love "the wizard of oz" as much as ever!

The Charles Addams Mother Goose is loved by kids and adults in our house.

I run the kids' section at my bookstore so I've been reading more young adult books to be more familiar with my section (and because I like them). I recently picked up Summer of my German Soldier by Bette Greene. It's a good thing that I didn't read that when I was eleven like everyone else because I would've been about five different kinds of mad at the ending.

I haven't read it but my local bookshop has a book called Now we are sixty by Christopher Mathew that I think is poetry in the style of Now we are six by AA Milne.

I believe the author of Go the F**k to Sleep has another book in a similar vein, but I can't recall the title.

Also, there's The Seven Lady Godivas by Dr. Seuss and Goodnight Bush (a parody).

Most of these examples are picturebooks for adults, not children's books for adults. The original term is a contradiction in terms.

Hi everyone, I'm Gary.

I live in Glendale Queens, New York.

I'm a big fan of very funny children's books. :-)

Please visit my page to see some very funny children's books.

A funny children's book that I really like is "Farty Marty" by Justin Johnson.
