Hello,
I have a question. I'm not very knowledgeable about the exact process of publishing nowadays. I am working on a nonfiction/art book and I live in a very small country that lacks good publishing houses. I was wondering would it be possible for me to publish my book in another country? I would like to market my book in my country as well.

Yes, it would be possible, though you'll need a publisher (and a contract) for each country or region you publish the book in. For instance, I believe the publishers in the US and Canada may work together but a British publisher is a different house, different contract.

I'm more into writing fiction, so I know there are agents that deal with publishers and international contracts for those. Not sure if there are agents for non-fiction, but there are professionals that can offer advice...

>1 Teacup_:, National borders aren't too much a concern when it comes to traditional publishing through an agent. A lot depends on where you are, exactly. If you're somewhere in Europe, then your best bet is to look for an agent in a UK-based literary agency. If you're somewhere in South America, not remotely close to either London or New York in terms of geography, then it doesn't matter as much. That said, a lot of small countries have reputable literary agencies that work with the larger publishing houses in other countries, and so your best bet is to look and see if that applies to you. If there's a respectable literary agency (not publisher) anywhere near you, and they handle the kind of book you're writing, the best thing would be to query them first once you're ready, knowing that they'd be reaching out to larger publishing houses outside of the country.

Hi Teacup. Another option is to self-publish on Amazon, which will make your book available in many countries.
