While on the road this week I've been enjoying a visit with an old friend, Mary Stewart--listening to "Gabriel Hounds" on tape. I'd forgotten just how much I like her books, and the narrator (Barbara Rosenblatt) does a wonderful job of conveying the characters and moods and nuances. In this adventure a young English woman and her "coz" are in Beirut in the 1970's, and become entangled in some interesting goings-on around their Great Aunt Harriet's palace. As I was pulling into the garage I found myself at an exciting place; I resisted the urge to just sit in the car in the garage to listen and managed to get inside to put the tape in the player at home. I should have another of her titles on the way--soon, I hope, since I have more road time next week!
