So what did you think of Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson?

Was it sublime? Was it ridiculous? Any (virtual) throwing of books at the wall? Or did you feel compelled to read everything the author has written?

Discuss it all here! Spoilers abound, enter at your own risk...

This is a book that i love. Have loved since the first time i read it back in and around 2002. I think i have read it at least 3 times since then, and listened to it on Audio book at least once.

I love the first Chapter as it is a great example of world building, mixed in with excitement and tension, all while doing the everyday task of delivering Pizza.

Interesting story, good characters, great McGuffin, but bloody hell how many solid chapters of exposition? Two people (one of whom is a computer) standing in a room talking about ancient Sumer for half the book is not how you drive a plot forward.

It's a Stephenson novel. What else do you expect?

It's been quite a while since I read this and I don't really remember it. I think I preferred other of his anyway, like the System of the World trilogy.

I read this book about 6 months ago. The thing I liked most about it was the names of the main characters ;-) It is the kind of storyline that is likely to date pretty quickly, but the quirky characters held it up well enough for a book about virtual reality that is 20 years old.

His books Anathem and The Diamond Age are better though......
