Looks like June is not ideal, but July or August will work - and that's when Jeremy's free(er) too. So we may put it off until then. Let's see what we have when we get more responses, though.

After the Fourth of July would be perfect for me!

Ah, the 4th of July... I always find it touching that so many Americans celebrate the birth of "Alice in Wonderland". ;-)

July and August would be absolutely perfect (summer holiday) on the other hand I'll find also time in June.

4th of July would be perfect for me also-- have some time off over those few days. But, I'll make time anytime you all decide on.

>6 Nicole_VanK:
And why not? Is not Alice in Wonderland one of the great works of literature? :-)

Ooookaaay...I'm hearing themes forming here...

And I mention themes and silence falls over the entire project!

Aw... Okay, so maybe we should do it without a theme.

Although themes are OK too! Since I have never participated before, I really don't know what to expect.

Well, sorry, I didn't catch it that you were asking for themes. It would be nice to have a theme but it also should be possible to read something else if the theme isn't convenient for oneself.

As a theme I'd like to propose Vacation mysteries, because in Europe it will be summer holiday in July and August.

No, I was mostly joking. Themes have been something of a disputatious subject in previous ReadaThings - not terrible, but some likelove them and some object.

Personally, I take a theme as something to bounce ideas off. So if the theme was Alice in Wonderland, anything with white rabbits, or pocketwatches (how about The Girl, the Gold Watch, and Everything?) or people shrinking, or books that have had movies made from them, or... what can you come up with? would work. It's an additional fun thing - not so much "what book do I have that fits this theme?" but "how can this book I want to read be made to connect to this theme?".

You could say I have Alice "on the brain" anyway, but I'm fine with any other subject.

One compromise on the themes would be to start a "what you would want to read during the ReadaThing" thread and then challenge people to create a theme embracing all the books people suggest . . . I usually find a way to read what I want if I define the theme loosely enough :)

I recently joined the BOMBS (Books Off My Book Shelf) group so here's a suggestion if we read near July 4th: "Independence" . . . would get me to fireworks --> "bombs bursting in air" --> all those books on my shelves I've been meaning to read (my BOMBS/TBR pile) --> I'll spend the ReadaThing reading only those books I want to get off my bookshelf (and become independent from) . . .

See how it can work?

Looks like July is the most promising. I've posted specific date possibilities over at:

Please Vote! We need to decide soon.
