Here another one for some opinions!

***************************************************************************************

The President’s Vampire is the second book in the series featuring Nathaniel Cade, a vampire in the service of the President of the United States. The witch Marie Laveau bound Cade to the office of the President to serve and protect the country. He is the man in black, protecting us from the clutches of evil. He has a human liaison assigned to work with him and be his intermediary, currently it’s Zach Barrows. Zach is only a year on the job and he’s discovered it’s like no other OJT imaginable.

We meet up with Cade as he is about to perform a HALO jump unto a private yacht off the coast of Africa. A yacht that is about to be attacked by some very unusual pirates. As monstrous as pirates are, these have been genetically mutated into killing machines and Cade’s job is to prevent them from spreading. He’s very good at what he does.

After they get back, during their debriefing they are told to lay off the case, Colonel Graves is on it and they have already messed up one operation, trying to find a mole, by showing up on the yacht. Cade has other ideas. Zach and Cade team up with Archer/Andrews to find out who and how A/A has been infiltrated and put a stop to it.

Overall, I enjoyed this one even more than the first, Farnsworth had even more fun and mixes in quite a bit more history and a lot of conspiracy theory stuff to make things more interesting. The story isn’t for the squeamish. Cade is a monster but he’s our monster and he’s our point man. When anything evil or otherworldly seems to be gaining a finger-hold on our reality it’s his job to hold back the things that go bump in the night.

That book sounds exactly like my kind of pulpy silliness. Sounds vaguely similar to Hellboy or The Amazing Screw-on Head, but doesn't seem like a swipe. I think I remember you reviewing the first one as well.

In the third sentence of the first paragraph, I'm wondering if 'man in black' shouldn't either have some quotes or be capitalized. That may just be me though, it probably needs neither.

First paragraph, fourth sentence. I think it should be split in two at ...and be his intermediary.

First paragraph, fifth sentence. Zach is only a year on the job reads funny. Maybe Zach is only a year in on the job... or Zach has only been on the job a year...? Also, I'm assuming that 'OJT' means 'on the job training', but if so, you might want to spell it out. The acronym sort of stopped me as I was reading.

Second paragraph, first sentence/ I think you mean 'on to' not 'unto'.

Third paragraph, first sentence. Either After they get back or during their debriefing should be cut. The two say essentially the same thing. Also, the sentence could be split at lay off the case.

Third paragraph, third sentence. Who is Archer/Andrews?

Archer Andrews is another 'Black Ops' kind of thing loosely based on 'Blackwater' I think. A civilian branch that can be disavowed should they get caught. Other than that? It doesn't go into it much, there is a lot of cloak and dagger and misdirection here. A conspiracy theorists wetdream. It's a lot of fun.

Any Better?

Ah, yeah. Hearing that Graves was a Colonel, I had no idea he was attached to Archer/Andrews and I thought maybe Archer/Andrews were two guys working for the CIA or something.

The new third paragraph makes it all a lot clearer.

When you asked about Archer/Andrews that's what I figured was at least part of the problem.
