- A propos de ma bibliothèque
- Recently I've been trying to accumulate a nice collection of books related to climbing and mountain adventures, as these are what primarily occupy my thoughts.
My library is composed of all the books I've purchased since I was in high school that I was lucky enough to not get rid of (I am basically incapable now of ridding myself of a book, once read). I unfortunately sold back many of my college books that I would now like to have (and many that I'm glad I sold). I have no goals for my library, in that I am not trying to make it into anything in particular, and don't much care what it's composed of - it is what it is.
I am trying to expose myself to new literature that is high in quality but perhaps less so in visibility. As such, I have started slowly collecting and reading some of the works listed in "1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die."
I read virtually all of the fantasy, sci-fi, and military and legal thrillers in middle/high school, and keep them at my parent's house in New York. It simply didn't make sense to ship them all to Seattle, given that I rarely paid more than $1 per book in the first place.
Many of my books have an "Academic Text" tag that I use to sort my, you guessed it, academic texts for easy reference. There isn't really any specified definition for this tag, since, given a change in academic field, many of the non-academic books could no doubt become academic. Essentially, if I have ever used a book for a class, it qualifies as academic. - Lieu (géographique)
