The Eugène Marais Prize is a South African literary prize awarded by the Suid-Afrikaanse Akademie vir Wetenskap en Kuns for a first or early publication in Afrikaans. In 1971 it was renamed after afficher plus the Afrikaans poet and researcher Eugène Marais. The Eugène Marais Prize is a South African literary prize awarded by the Suid-Afrikaanse Akademie vir Wetenskap en Kuns for a first or early publication in Afrikaans. Die Eugène Maraisprys, vantevore bekend as die "Aanmoedigingsprys" en later die "Debuutprys", is 'n toekenning van die Suid-Afrikaanse Akademie vir Wetenskap en Kuns vir 'n eerste of vroeë publikasie in Afrikaans. Dit is in 1971 hernoem na die Afrikaanse digter en navorser Eugène Marais. Die prys het geen genre-indeling nie, maar slegs werke wat in die vorige kalenderjaar verskyn het, kom in aanmerking. Voorts kan 'n skrywer dit net een keer verower. Die prysgeld het in 2009 R22 000 bedra en is geborg deur Absa en Rapport.
