Thanks to NetGalley for an advanced reading copy of Prom Queen in exchange for an honest review.

Wow. What a mind bending read. There were so many things I loved about this book.

1. I loved our main character and narrator Brooke. She was incredibly relatable and hard not to like. She was the quirky, artsy, non-popular, girl-next-door that you may have been friends with or may have been yourself.

2. This was one book where a jumping timeline between past and present really worked wonders for the plot and kept me guessing over who had "murdered" (maybe? or was it really a suicide?) her ex-best friend from high school. You find out so much that happened by the older timeline, while current Brooke works to figure out a. if her friend was murdered in the first place, b. if she was, then who did it, and c. who is leaving her these creepy threatening notes. Along with worrying the a podcaster that came to town might blow up her life.

3. The podcaster section of the story. This is something I've seen in A LOT of books lately (and have gotten a little bored by), but Wolfe managed to make it both a central, yet more so supporting part of the mystery. It wasn't what the story was about, which was refreshing, and just added another investigative piece to the puzzle.

4. THE TWISTS. Can we talk about how this was a thriller in which I never saw the ending coming. There of course were hints along the way, and maybe some of you readers will see them more clearly than me....but I never predicted the ending at all. In fact, I had a thousand other ideas of who might have been the murderer. Never guessed it....and I like to think that as an English teacher, I have a knack for picking up on foreshadowing. Not this time.

10/10 this was a seriously fast read. I started it yesterday and managed to finish within 24 hours. I could not put it down, and could not stop wondering what happened. Highly recommend.

A digital ARC of this book was provided to me by NetGalley and Bookouture. The opinions are my own and freely given.

Cast of Characters:

Abigail - fiancée of Pete
Pete - fiancé of Abigail
Kristen - Abigail's mother
John - Abigail's father
Darla - Pete's mother
Kenny - Pete's father
Liam wilderness tour guide

"They were afraid to look"

Told mainly from Abigail's POV with a couple of chapters from Darla and Liam's POV.

This is the story of a camping trip gone wrong, on so many levels. With Abigail and Pete's impending nuptials, Abigail wants to get both sets of parents to like each other, so she plans this trip for a "bonding" experience. Kristen is a physiatrist and believes in science, where Darla believes in mystic powers and reads Palms, Tarot cards and healing crystals. The moms don't get off on the right foot. And with 7 people on this trip, one ends up broken at the bottom of a gulch. Fingers are pointed, tensions are high. Was it foul play or just an accident?

I didn't see the outcome and I was surprised. I love books where groups of people are stranded in dangerous situations, so this was right up my alley. Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture.

Thank you Bookouture, NG and Author for this eARC!

Laura Wolfe is a favorite of mine!
I've read and enjoyed She Lies Alone & Her Bestfriend's Lie.
BTW..... Check these two out if you haven't already! Because they both are wonderful.

Ridgeview Pines is full of mysterious neighbors.

Jessica Millstone is a stay at home mom.... For the time being and has everything she has ever wanted...
Her and husband Mark bought her childhood home!
They have a beautiful three year old daughter Isabelle.
And life couldn't be better.....
On Jessica's nightly walk with their dog Roo she notices something or someone lurking in her neighbor
Barbara Drapers bushes. She thinks it could be a racoon!
Little does she know something bad is happening to her neighbor right next door.
She spots Barbara standing at the window screaming something.... Which she brushed it off thinking the elderly lady was trying to scream at her or the dog!
Barbara isn't very liked in this neighborhood either.... Always complaining about others kids, or their dogs on the neighborhood app!
So when Jessica finds out Barbara is dead by an accident she is shocked.
And soon after a series of bizarre events start happening to Jess.
She starts investigating the death of her neighbor herself since the police ruled it an accident.
Soon after Jessica starts receiving multiple threats via messages on the neighbourhood app.
And before she knows it her, Mark and their toddler are in a big, dangerous mess!
Who can she trust in this picture perfect neighborhood?!
And who wants to harm her perfect little family?

This was a very enjoyable read!
The story was interesting and intriguing!
And to be honest I had no idea which way this book was going.
I loved how Laura never gave away as to who it was and honestly kept me guessing!
The characters here..... You won't know who you can trust! Which I liked!

Thank you so much Bookouture, NetGalley and Laura for this eARC!
