This book covers the same time period and set of events from several different characters' points of view, which is a risky writing strategy to take. If done well, each retelling reveals details and nuance that help the reader understand the characters and their world better. If done poorly, each retelling leads to progressively more skimming to get to something we haven't read four times already. Unfortunately this book was the latter for me. I was simultaneously wishing the book was longer (so so many dropped plot threads that I wanted to know more about!) and shorter (I really don't need four identical versions of the exact same party).… (plus d'informations)

Face was such an interesting read! It took my back to elementary school days when I read the Uglies/Pretties/Specials series - this is a grownup version that gave serious Black Mirror vibes. I would be really interested in a sequel or perhaps a partner story that follows the Menials or looks at the "lower tiers" of the story's society.

I did find some of the characters a bit flat at times but feel like perhaps a sequel would flesh them out further. I also found the formatting interesting as the story followed the same period of time from the perspectives of different characters, giving the reader a more complete picture with each chapter/character's angle.
