An interesting, in-depth study of a county that's probably somewhere just south of Cook County (Chicago), Illiinois; perhaps a bit out of date, since the studies took place in the 1940s, and a great deal has changed since then. But it does give you a snapshot of what a relatively rural county looked like in the immediate post-war era, in terms of the class structure and how the community broke out in its beliefs. Recommended.
