History of the working classes from a socialist perspective 5th Edition. The preface explains the difficulty of getting the book published because there were no socialist publishing houses at the time of original publication (1888).

Unique for its time, this is a praiseworthy effort to write history from the bottom up. One can forgive the Author's ignorance of things he couldn't possibly have known, scholarship being what it was then, but his preaching gets a bit predictable and monotonous, as does his somewhat lame use of so-called "holy scripture" as source-material. The Bible does have tremendous value as a historical source, but not as Ward did.
