Finding Family in a Far-Away Land: An Adoption Story by Amanda Wall is such a precious book written about the author’s experience adopting two daughters from India. The story is told with Priya, the oldest day and her point of view. Priya was old enough to remember their life in with their parents and then in the orphanage after they lost their parents, so we get a little of India’s culture mixed in as well.
I enjoyed this story very much. It was fun and interesting as the two cultures mixed and the issues with each side as they learned their new way of life. Author Amanda Wall does a very nice job writing and illustrating the story. The illustrations are a little bit different than a lot of children’s books, but yet they work well with telling the story. I love the front cover, I think it fits the story perfectly. This is a very well thought out and written book, and tells a story that needs to be in many families. I think it would be a good library book for schools as well. It would be an awesome resource when needing something to read to children who have been adopted, and because it is a true story I think I would be more meaningful. I highly recommend this sweet book and it is Four Stars for me.
