Landscape Photographer of the Year: Collection 4… par AA Publishing

This is the first Landscape Photographer of the Year book that I have seen, and after seeing Garden Photographer of the Year Collection 1 I was expecting to be similarly impressed. However that is not the case. While there is no questioning the technical quality of the photography here, with many of the shots taken under far from normal conditions, I am struck by the lack of originality of the handling, if I had to sum all of them up in a word it would be cliché. There is also a lot of repetition within the collection in that there are many similar photographs, in both choice of subject or lighting/atmospheric conditions.

The book is informative, it is useful to have the details of camera and settings for each photograph, although I fail to see why these must be provided separately at the back of the book rather than alongside the respective photographs, it becomes rather tiresome having to keep turning to the back to find the relevant information.… (plus d'informations)

Landscape par Charlie Waite

On flipping through this book, I recognized some of the photographs from greeting cards that I have bought! It was lovely to look at more of this photographer's beautiful work. Reading the text that accompanies each photo, transported me to the time and place of it's creation. Brillant and incisive words, revealing to me the thought processes of a very talented man, going about his obviously much loved work.

Working the Light: A Photography Masterclass (Light… par Eddie Ephraums

Very cool. It was like watching a critique session with master photographers.
One thing I am looking for through from a photography book is the detailed mechanics such as how to you find a good spot, how do you determine ahead of time where the light will be and when, etc. Anyway still a wonderful book with lots of great images.
