- The Dial (1) -- the arts & politics magazine which was published 1840-1844, 1860 and 1880-1929.
In spite of the gaps this is considered to be the 'same' magazine.
The Dial (2) -- 'The Dial: A Magazine of Fiction', (re-)launched in 1959; lasted until 1962. Published by The Dial Press which had early connections to The Dial Magazine (they shared premises, and Schofield Thayer was an editor for both) and so was considered to be in a sense an heir to the earlier magazine.
