Who hasn't wondered, looking up from ship or shore, how sailors navigated the seas before GPS or radar, even before the compass, chart, astrolabe or other tools?

Taylor, a member of both the Royal Geographical and Royal Historical Societies, gives a practical sense of how navigation by the stars was likely done.
