You easily get sucked up in the complex relationships of the main characters. The writer keeps you wanting to read more and more to find out how the story ends. She uses her words very good to accomplish this goal. But the ending was very disappointing. By reading the whole book, I expected more. It looked like she was just sick of writing the story and quickly made an end to it.

World War ll story of US army based in a British rural countryside, and of the special military inteeligence that operated there. Well told story about the Conroy family and their struggles to hold it together through war torn Britain, and of the GI's who had entered their lives and community.
