Great book; well written; apparently well researched. This book is based on a thesis written by Mr. Suttie. As an aside, Robin Prior was the thesis supervisor for Suttie in this effort. I found this book extremely interesting. First off I must say I have never (and never will read) Lloyd George's 'War Memoirs'. From excerpts which I have come across I always felt that many of the assertions in Lloyd George's work were self-serving and meant to push blame on others (e.g. the generals, particularly Haig; political rivals; etc.). Suttie's thesis tends to back this up. However, Suttie is fair and balanced in his analysis. He points out where LG is accurate; he also points out where LG is self-serving.

Even though the book is scholarly in tone, it is a fast and interesting read. Highly recommend for students of WWI.
