If you are interested in both art history and the history of the American Revolution, Of Arms and Artists: The American Revolution through Painters' Eyes is a enlightening and expanding read. Otherwise, the specialized information might feel somewhat dry. I did mostly enjoy this.

This book focuses on five artists that thrived during the Revolutionary Period. They are: Charles Willson Peale, John Singleton Copley, John Trumbull, Benjamin West, and Gilbert Stuart. These artists were eyewitnesses to history and worked with subjects such as the Founding Fathers.
